What car company offered The Doors $75,000 in 1968 to use their song "Light My Fire" in one of their commercials?
Answer Buick
John Densmore claimed that in October 1968, Buick offered the band $75,000 to modify "Light My Fire" for use in a Buick television advertisement. Morrison was still in London after the end of a European tour and could not be reached by the band's other members, who agreed to Buick's offer in his absence. Morrison subsequently called Buick and threatened to personally destroy one of their cars with a sledgehammer on TV if the ad was ever broadcast.
