Originating from the Huron-Iroquois word, "kanata," what does Canada mean?

Meaning "village," the word, "Canada," was first adopted by explorer Jacques Cartier while he was traveling with natives near the then-village of Stadacona. He applied the word to the whole area and by the mid-16th century, it was being used on maps for all land north of the St. Lawrence River.
