Jabir ibn Hayyan, who died in about 806, is the claimed creator of a vast quantity and diversity of scientific writings in Arabic, frequently referred to as the Jabirian corpus. The surviving writings are mostly concerned with alchemy and chemistry. His writings include the first systematic categorization of chemical compounds and the earliest instructions for chemically separating an inorganic compound from an organic one.
