Tom Neal was known for his off-screen antics, which included scandal, violence, and a murder charge. Prior to his 1938 cinematic debut in MGM's Out West with the Hardys, Neal was a member of Northwestern University's boxing team and had earned a law degree from Harvard. He mostly starred in low-budget films and nowadays is remembered for his role in the 1945 film Detour.
