What actress did Tom Cruise reportedly have a fling with during their time together filming "Top Gun"?

Kelly McGillis played a civilian instructor at the Top Gun training center, and Tom Cruise and his character both fell for the leggy blonde. The two never really spoke about their time, and recently McGillis claimed he was a nice guy and filming their steamy scenes was strange. We aren't sure that counts as a denial.
