In Guatemala, the devil must be burned on December 7. Related to the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the three-foot-tall, horned and goateed demon is represented by a piñata. The "devil" is lit by firecrackers to honor Guatemala City's patron saint, and bonfires are often built outside residents' homes for the occasion.
