Until 1875 its dual capitals were New Haven & Hartford

Answer Connecticut

When it came time to establish a capital in 1701, the rival towns were too stubborn to come to an agreement. Despite the practical burdens of keeping up two buildings, two sets of files, etc., it went on this way for nearly two centuries. In 1875, the New Haven vs. Hartford question was put to a public vote and Hartford emerged victorious.
