Today, cable networks such as HBO clean up at the Emmys, but they weren't always eligible for awards. When did cable programming become eligible for Emmy Awards?
Answer 1988
Before they could start stealing the broadcast networks' thunder, cable shows were relegated to their own awards, the CableACE Awards. The last one of those bad boys was handed out in 1997, where the big winners were 'The Larry Sanders Show' and 'Oz'.
