The original premise for 'Ghostbusters' featured Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, and Ernie Hudson as the titular ghost removal experts. The tone of the script was much darker, and the film was set in the future. It involved multiple teams of Ghostbusters bustin' ghosts across space and time, including 50 massive monsters the size of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Predictably, the estimated budget for that concept was massive: roughly $718 million after adjusting for inflation.
