This woman went on one epic road trip! In the 1920s, who became the first woman to drive around the globe?
Answer Aloha Wanderwell
The aptly named Aloha Wanderwell (birth name: Idris Galicia Welsh) began and ended her journey in Nice, France, between December 29, 1922, and January, 1927. She was 16 years old when she started her adventure by applying for a job as a mechanic and filmmaker for a traveling team. After responding to the ad, she met with "Captain" Wanderwell in Paris and secured a seat on the expedition. She served as the expedition's translator, driver, and filmmaker, and took on the name "Aloha Wanderwell". Idris quickly became the face of the expedition, which captured her adventures in a series of movie travelogues.
