This was the largest contiguous land empire in the history of the world. What is the name of this empire that began in 1206?

Answer Mongol Empire

The Mongol Empire began in 1206 when the tribal ruler Temujin assumed the title of Genghis Khan after his regional conquests in the Mongol steppe region. Genghis Khan and his successors expanded the empire to where at one point, it stretched from the Pacific Ocean in the east, to the Danube River in the west, covering roughly 9 million square miles. The Mongol Empire effectively came to an end in 1368 when the Ming Dynasty reclaimed China, though the empire had previously suffered from fights over succession and major sections of the empire had split off to form other empires.
