This ringleted silent film superstar co-founded United Artists with Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin and D.W. Griffith in 1919 at age 27. Can you name her?

Answer Mary Pickford

Although only 27 when she co-founded United Artists, Mary Pickford had already acted in 185 silent films, including 35 feature-length pictures, and had experience beyond her years. She'd been a working actress since the tender age of seven, when her father's accidental death forced her to become the family's main breadwinner. The savvy businesswoman had also earned a hard bargaining reputation, having successfully re-negotiated her salaries to unprecedented heights during the previous seven years. The following year, Pickford married co-founder Fairbanks. The golden couple settled into Fairbanks's converted Beverly Hills hunting lodge that came to be known as "Pickfair.”
