This peninsula near Alexandria had a lighthouse on it that was 1 of the 7 wonders of the ancient world
Answer Pharos
Built by the Ptolemaic Kingdom in the third century BC, the Lighthouse of Alexandria (aka the Pharos of Alexandria) is estimated to have been at least 150 meters high. For centuries, it was the tallest structure in the world. A series of earthquakes between 956 AD and 1323 AD caused severe damage, leaving only a portion intact. In 1480, the remaining rubble of the lighthouse was used to build a defensive fortress.
