Perched on a rock at Langelinie Pier, the Little Mermaid sculpture is one of Copenhagen's top tourist attractions. The century-old mermaid was a lovely gift to the City of Copenhagen by a generous Danish brewer named Carl Jacobsen in 1913. Inspired by a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, the mermaid is a fitting monument to the city where the author lived for many years.
