Known as "The Golden State Killer" or the "East Area Rapist," this serial killer's M.O. involved burglarizing and taunting his victims, for which there may be 100s of burglaries, over 50 rapes, and 13 murders at minimum. In 2018, advances in DNA evidence and genealogy put Joseph James DeAngelo on investigators' radar. He was arrested and charged with the crime sprees, including eight counts of first-degree murder. Court records indicate that DeAngelo is willing to plead guilty for a life sentence.
