In 1967, Peter Monteverdi, a Swiss automobile dealer and collector, established a business in Basel with the aim of constructing luxury GT cars and sedans. Monteverdi automobiles were created with the aim of producing luxury models with German engineering, Italian styling, and American engineering. They succeeded in doing so by manufacturing high-end cars fuelled by Chrysler's V8 engines.
