This is the French version of which classic game of global domination?
Answer Risk
Risk was actually a French game originally. It was invented in 1957 by Albert Lamorisse, the filmmaker behind the classic The Red Balloon. In 1959, Parker Brothers bought the U.S. rights but decided that its French name La Conquête du Monde (The Conquest of the World) didn't sound exciting enough for Americans. So it became Risk—which also happened to be the initials of the toy company chief's four grandchildren.
