This handsome and soft spoken actor was famous for his singing and dancing in many films such as Brigadoon with Cyd Charisse, Singing in the Rain with Debbie Reynolds, and For Me and My Galplaying opposite Judy Garland.

Gene Kelly gave us some of our finest musical films including The Pirate, On the Town with whom he shared the screen with Frank Sinatra, and An American in Paris with Leslie Caron. He only made two films in which he did not sing or dance - What a Way To Go and Inherit the Wind. He directed the 1960 film version of Hello Dolly for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.
