The Grand Prismatic Spring is impressive by any standard. Located in the Midway Geyser Basin, it's located at over 7,000 feet in altitude, and is 370 feet in diameter and 160 feet deep. The bright, vibrant colors of this geological feature are the result of so-called microbial mats.
