Originally founded in ancient times, Hydra has evolved many times with its most recent version originating out of Nazi Germany led by Johann Schmidt. After Captain America defeated Red Skull near the end of WWII, the organization went into hiding inside of S.H.I.E.L.D. only to re-emerge in 2014.
