The Timurid Empire was founded in 1370 by Timur (otherwise known as Tamerlane) and at its height, stretched from Turkey to India. Although the empire officially ended in 1506 with the defeat of the last Timurid leader, the Timurid ruler of the province of Fergana, named Babur, survived and later established the Mughal Empire in India.
