This counterculture icon co-wrote, produced and starred in a seminal road trip movie. Can you name him?

Answer Peter Fonda

Although Peter Fonda had co-written 'Easy Rider' with co-star Dennis Hopper and Terry Southern, they ended up improvising most of it as the shoot went on. This may have something to do with the fact that the "grass" they smoke throughout the film was real. According to co-star Jack Nicholson, they smoked at least 100 joints on camera during the shoot. They also kept it real with their casting choices, hiring locals instead of professional actors for many scenes. In the end, the low-budget, drug-shaped experiment was a massive success: produced for $384,000, the film had grossed $60 million worldwide as of July 2014. Fonda and his co-writers shared an Academy Award nomination and Jack Nicholson earned his first acting nomination that year as well. Peter Fonda died of lung cancer in August 2019.
