The Ford Focus WRC MK1 launched right when Ford decided that the '99 season was the one to win. It hired the best drivers in the business, Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz. Unfortunately, in 1999 the Focus couldn't win, but it managed to finish 24th overall. In the next 3 years, however, it achieved 11 WRC victories.
