The Mitsubishi Eclipse was launched in 1989 as a sport compact car. It even shared the platform with both the Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser, as a result of Mitsubishi's close relationship with Chrysler. Their partnership was known as Diamond-Star Motors. Only in 2017, Mitsubishi resurrected it as a crossover SUV, but most people prefer the original one.
