The Elektro-Golf 1 was first produced in 1976 and it was based on a Mk1 Gold. It featured a flat 96V - acid battery under the rear seats and a 20 hp electric motor. The Golf could hit a top speed of 62 mph and drive for a range of around 30 miles.
