Seen "together for the first time," Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert were the stars of what was the first in a string of iconic screwball comedies by legendary director Frank Capra?

Answer It Happened One Night

The OG rom-com It Happened One Night has inspired countless imitators since its first release in 1934. You'd never know it from the screwball fun happening up on the screen, but not everyone on the set was overjoyed with the project. Apparently, Claudette Colbert was a real pill. Director Frank Capra later griped about his leading lady's on-set behavior, describing how throughout filming she "had many little tantrums, motivated by her antipathy toward me." For her part, Colbert reportedly bitched to a friend, "I just finished the worst picture in the world." The film was the first — and only one of three in history — that nabbed all five major Oscars... including best actress.
