There are a number of pieces that help support a window or door frame. If you're putting together a window, which piece would you nail to the outsides of the trimmers (or jack studs) and connect to the top and bottom plates?

The king stud is attached to the outsides of the trimmers. The king stud supports the weight from the window assembly between the plates.
