The Reconstruction era was a significant period in the history of civil rights here in the United States. How long did it last?
Answer 12 years
The Reconstruction era was a period in American history that followed the Civil War. It lasted from 1865 to 1877, and during this era we abolished slavery and put an end to the remains of Confederate secession in the Southern states, as authorized by the U.S. Congress. It established newly freed slaves as citizens with (theoretically) the same civil rights as whites.
