The papers read, "Brooklyn Bridge's Seller sent to Sing Sing for Life." Which con man sold the Brooklyn Bridge...twice?
Answer George C. Parker
This 20th-century swindler could have been Lustig's little brother. Instead of selling Parisian landmarks, Parker sold those in New York City. Not only did he sell the Brooklyn Bridge twice, but he "sold" the Statue of Liberty and Madison Square Garden, and his targets were usually gullible immigrants. He also attempted to sell President Ulysses S. Grant's tomb by posing as his grandson.
