The only Great Lake entirely within the United States

Lake Michigan may not be the largest of the Great Lakes by volume (it's #2) or surface area (#3), but 12 million Americans live along its shores - far more than any of its sister lakes. Lake Michigan is shared by the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan; major ports along its shores include Chicago; Milwaukee; Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Gary, Indiana.
