If you've ever visited Death Valley National Park, you might recognize the Mesquite Flat Dunes section of the park in Star Wars when C3PO and R2D2 first crash into the planet of Tatooine. There's definitely an otherworldly quality to Death Valley. Just don't visit there in the middle of summer.
