The Mercury Cougar was introduced in 1967 as a more elegant, classy alternative to the Ford Mustang. However, there was one trim level of the Cougar that wasn't about elegance at all, but meant raw power and muscle. What was it called?
Answer Eliminator
The name Cougar Eliminator sounds menacing, and the muscle car behind it surely was. Powered by either the 351 cu in Cleveland or the Boss 302 V8, it was Mercury's answer to the Mustang Mach 1. With larger wheels and tires, a blacked-out trim and a rear spoiler it looked as fiercely as it accelerated.
