The earliest evidence of anything approaching ice cream can be traced to the Tang period of Ancient China, more than 1500 years ago. At that time, buffalo, cow, and goat milk was heated and fermented. It was then thickened with flour and flavored with camphor before being refrigerated and served. Today's ice cream sounds much more palatable.
