The distributor cap was used in older cars for decades. Nowadays, however, it's replaced. What's the name of the replacer?

The ignition coil is part of all the modern cars. It's placed in each cylinder, and sends the electricity to each spark plug in order to arouse the fuel/air mix and then drive the pistons. This process used to be done by distributor caps.
