The 1966 Aberfan Disaster took place in what country?
Answer Wales
On October 21, 1966, a massive pile of waste materials from a coal mining operating began to slide down a mountain slope toward the village of Aberfan. Powerless to stop the landslide, much of the village was destroyed, including the local school, leading to the deaths of 144 people, most of whom were, sadly, children.
