Tensions between President James Buchanan and Mormon leader Brigham Young led to what power struggle?

Brigham Young was becoming too big for his britches...at least that's what President James Buchanan thought. Young was Utah's first governor and had been involved in conflicts with the U.S. government largely over religious freedom. Buchanan wanted Young removed from office and sent troops to the territory to combat any resistance. Young answered in turn with his own militia, and after open conflict on both sides, the pair agreed to peace terms that ended the "war".
