While all of the answers relate to tequila and Mexican culture in some way, only Carlos “Danny” Herrera is credited with inventing the Margarita. In 1938, it's believed that Herrera created the recipe at his restaurant Rancho La Gloria, halfway between Tijuana and Rosarito.
