Operating in the '40s in the U.K., John George Haigh was a conman who charmed his way into the pockets of the wealthy, whom he then murdered. The "Acid Bath Murderer" would get rid of the evidence with sulphuric acid, before stealing his victims' life savings and possessions. He was hanged in 1949.
