Sometimes a singer can strike gold. Hitting number one in 1985, whose only top 20 hit was a number one duet with the legendary Phil Collins?
Answer Marilyn Martin
Marilyn Martin's duet with Phil Collins, "Separate Lives," appeared on the soundtrack to the movie White Nights, and hit number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts. It was written by singer Stephen Bishop, who recorded his own version the same year, and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song. Ironically, he lost to Lionel Richie's "Say You, Say Me," which was written for the same movie.
