Some hated it, some loved it. Car and Driver, however, referred to it as "America's M5". Can you name it?

Answer Cadillac CTS-V

The Cadillac CTS-V was introduced in 2003 and it stayed in production for three generation. The CTS-V started off as a high-performance version of the CTS and featured a pushrod OHV V-8 engine and a sport-tuned suspension. At that time it was considered a much better option than the BMW M5 or the Audi RS6.
