Mother Teresa – aka Saint Teresa of Calcutta – was a Catholic nun and missionary known for her charitable works in India, where she and her fellow missionaries served those suffering from leprosy, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and was canonized in 2017.
