Recognize this early '90s R&B star?
Answer Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes
Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was one third of the '90s R&B trio TLC, one of the most successful girl groups of all time. In addition to rapping and background vocals, Lopes was the key songwriter and an essential creative force in the group. In TLC, Lopes played something of the jester role, pushing envelopes in her music persona (replacing her eyeglass lens with a condom, for example) and in her real life (setting her boyfriend's sneakers on fire, which ended up burning their Atlanta mansion to the ground). Tragically, Lopes was killed in a car accident while vacationing in Honduras in 2002. She was 30 years old.
