The first Peugeot retractable hardtop was built in 1934 and was available until World War II began. Peugeot was not quite sure what to call the car. Catalog references to both "coupe transformable electrique" and "cabriolet metallique decouvrable" help explain why it has become known simply as "Eclipse".
