Ostensibly establishing the NYSE, what was the name of the historic agreement signed on May 17, 1792 between 24 stockbrokers outside of 68 Wall Street?
Answer Buttonwood Agreement
The so-called Buttonwood Agreement got its name because in 1792, two dozen of New York City's most important merchants met under a Buttonwood tree and started discussing ways to make the security trading business more stable and official. A year later, they were meeting inside the Tontine Coffee House on the corner of Wall and Water streets and the NYSE was on its way.
