Once playing a role where he described his character's downfall and death in Sunset Boulevard, who is this actor that played everything from war movies such as Stalag 17 and The Bridge on the River Kwai to romantic comedies such as Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn and Born Yesterday with Billie Holliday?
Answer William Holden
William Franklin Beedle, Jr. became William Holden after a talent scout, still carrying a flame for his ex-wife Gloria Holden, gave him that stage name in her honor. Holden acted with many of the Hollywood greats including Alec Guinness, Ginger Rogers, John Wayne, Grace Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn. He won an Academy Award for his performance in Stalag 17, the film which years later spawned the television series Hogan's Heroes.
