Iqaluit sits on the coast of the vast Baffin Island in Frobisher Bay. The landscape includes ice-capped mountains, tundra valleys, herds of caribou, and groups of Arctic foxes. In 1987, the town changed its name from the English version, Frobisher Bay, back to its traditional Inuktitut name.
