Once considered a nerds-only pursuit, this 1980s fantasy role-playing game has enjoyed a huge comeback in recent years. And this time, it's cool.

It wasn't just the cool kids who opposed D&D back in the day. The game was also a victim of the "satanic panic" hysteria of the 1980s. One witch hunter spared no words in decrying the evil pastime: "a fantasy role-playing game which uses demonology, witchcraft, voodoo, murder, rape, blasphemy, suicide, assassination, insanity, sex perversion, homosexuality, prostitution, satanic type rituals, gambling, barbarism, cannibalism, sadism, desecration, demon summoning, necromancy, divination and other teachings." Sounds fun!
