"Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now Prancer and Vixen!" In which famous Christmas story were Santa's reindeer first named?

Answer 'Twas the Night Before Christmas

"On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen!" Santa's eight reindeer were the brainchildren of Clement Clarke Moore, who wrote "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" (originally, "A Visit from St. Nicholas") in 1823. In fact, they aren't the only Christmas inventions that sprang from Moore's poem; Christmas elves are also credited to the minister, as he described Santa as a “right jolly old elf" (although cartoonist, Thomas Nast, was the artist who depicted them in Santa's workshop). One reindeer Clarke didn't invent: Rudolph. He would come much later.
