"Never, never, and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another... The sun shall never set on so glorious a human achievement. Let freedom reign. God bless Africa!"
Answer Nelson Mandela
Spending much of his life in a Cape Town prison after being found guilty on charges of sabotage, Nelson Mandela was freed in 1990. At 74 years old, he won the Nobel Peace Prize, along with South African President F.W. de Klerk, for their nonviolent fight against apartheid and for democracy. A year later, in 1994, Mandela was elected president of South Africa, which is where he delivered his vision for the country's future.
