Answer Skylab
Skylab was the first United States space station, launched by NASA and inhabited between May 1973 and February 1974 for about 24 weeks. Extensive activities included an orbiting workshop, a solar observatory, Earth observation, and several experiments. Skylab's orbit slowly deteriorated and it was destroyed in the atmosphere on July 11, 1979, sending debris over the Indian Ocean and Western Australia.
